Wilsons is a highly professional team of Czech and foreign lawyers, that was established by four of its partners in 2007 with a view to offering high level legal advice on a par with international law firms operating in the Czech and Slovak Republics, but with a more hands-on and personal approach.
Bryan is one of the co-founders of Wilsons and is based in the Prague Office. He is a UK registered lawyer and has also passed the Czech Foreign Lawyers exam. Bryan specialises primarily in real estate transactional investment work and has detailed CEE based multi-jurisdictional transactional experience. He has also undertaken several hotel transactions including sales, acquisitions, and the drafting and negotiation of hotel management and lease agreements.
Bryan has also been involved in various types of joint venture (retail/office/industrial development) and a multitude of real estate financing transactions, acting for both banks and borrowers. He has also been active in several corporate M&A transactions on behalf of major Czech clients.
Before co-founding Wilsons, Bryan worked in Cambridge for a major regional firm and then in London for Linklaters. This was followed by a further six years in Prague for the same firm where he was in charge of the CEE real estate department. In his spare time Bryan likes to play golf and is an avid reader of fiction.
Martin is one of the co-founders of Wilsons and is based in the Prague office. He has exceptionally strong real estate expertise, particularly in the management and structure of the sale and acquisition of office and retail space, green-field and brown-field development, and logistics and residential investment projects.
Martin is one of the market specialists in cross-border structuring and big-ticket real estate transactions. He has built up considerable experience with environmental and construction issues and regulations, including related administrative procedures, the development of production facilities and offices, and related construction and building issues.
Before co-founding Wilsons, Martin worked for almost 10 years at Linklaters, a leading international law firm.
Alan is one of the co-founders of Wilsons and is based in the Prague office. He specializes in construction, real estate sales and acquisitions, and environmental issues, including related regulatory implications and real estate financing. He has also had extensive experience in legal issues relating to the petrochemical and energy industry.
Alan has been advising developers, development companies and real estate investment funds on their projects in the CEE region for many years, and has led over 100 transactions for a worldwide food retailer in the Czech Republic. He has also assisted several important clients in the acquisition and disposal of large commercial properties.
Alan is active on both the Czech and Slovak markets. Before co-founding Wilsons, Alan worked for 8 years at Linklaters, a leading international law firm.
Jan was made a Partner of the firm in 2015 and is based in Prague. He specializes in complex finance and investment transactions and is experienced in all other related regulatory issues. Jan advises banks, institutional investors, investment funds and other financial institutions, and has wide-ranging experience in real estate project and corporate financing, on both the lenders’ and borrowers’ sides.
Financing takes up the majority of Jan’s time and he is regularly involved in the closing of syndicated loan transactions for banks and the management of complicated cross-border portfolio financing.
Jan is often involved in advising clients facing cartel investigations (both with the Czech Competition Office as well as the European Commission), merger control proceedings and antitrust-related litigation. He has also been responsible for preparing and presenting “Competition Compliance Programmes” to numerous Czech and international clients in the Czech Republic, including presenting ‘dawn raid’ seminars.
Before joining Wilsons in 2007, Jan worked for 6 years at Linklaters, a leading international law firm.
Martina advises on real estate transactions with a particular focus on investment sales and acquisitions, and on the operation of office buildings in the Czech Republic. She has been actively involved in numerous real estate and corporate due diligences and has steadily become a rising star in the real estate team with a reputation for organizational skills, attention to detail and a commercial outlook on legal issues. Martina has managed transactions on behalf of title insurance companies and developers, including construction contracts, management agreements, purchase and security agreements.
Martina has also been heavily involved in retail store development, from acquiring land through the entire development process, and also leasing and corporate acquisition projects for a global retail client.
Martina is a fluent Czech and English speaker.
Martina joined Wilsons in 2007 when the firm was first incorporated.
Dan is one of the partners at Wilsons and specialises in real estate sales and acquisitions, leasing and construction, including related corporate implications. He also has extensive experience in commercial litigation, merger control, competition law and industry specific regulatory issues.
Dan has been advising developers, real estate investment funds and retail investors on their projects in the CEE region for more than eleven years and has led many transactions for various investors (both on the seller’s and purchaser’s side) in the Czech Republic. Dan has been also involved inlong-term advisory to various property funds in the acquisition process of various commercial properties in the Czech Republic.
Dan has a quick legal mind and a commercial outlook and is known in the market as having the ability to quickly and effectively identify and solve problems arising in the most complex of real estate transactions.
Dan speaks Czech and English fluently.
Dan joined Wilsons after his graduation in 2007 when the firm was established.
Monika is an associate in the Real Estate department of Wilsons and works extensively with Bryan. She has been heavily involved in one of the first sale and leaseback transactions under the New Civil Code involving Bang & Olufsen and also the sale of a large city centre office building.
Monika also coordinates and manages real estate title due diligence processes for First Title and other investor client and she has an excellent corporate/M&A back-ground.
In addition, Monika has been involved in the research, preparation and drafting of real estate Arbitration submissions and is a key member of several client teams dealing with day-to-day leasing and real estate and corporate issues.
Monika is fluent in Czech, Slovak and English.
Lucie is an associate in the Real Estate department of Wilsons. Before joining Wilsons she was a junior associate at a law firm in Brno.
She specialises in real estate law and is an integral member of several client teams, dealing with general legal issues, real estate acquisitions, leasing and landlord/tenant issues etc.
In addition, Lucie has conducted numerous court cases and gained a significant experience in the field of dispute resolution.
Before obtaining her law degree at the Masaryk University in Brno, Lucie also studied for 1 year at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where she successfully completed courses focused on international business law.
Lucie speaks fluent Czech, English and Spanish.
Vladimir is an associate in the banking & finance and M&A team of Wilsons. Before cooperating with Wilsons, Vladimir was a member of M&A, IP/IT and banking & finance practice groups at leading international and Czech law firms.
Vladimir participated on legal projects such as setting-up of oil & gas joint venture projects overseas, cross-border divestment of leading CEE precious metals manufacturer or acquisitions of heat and solar power plants as well as of commercial real estate projects, including tax structuring, financing and post-closing legal support.
During his practice, he also provided day to day legal advice to major telecommunication, cable and satellite TV providers, focusing on EU law and was involved in IP and collective rights management, drafting and negotiations of content distribution agreements.
Prior to the Bar admission, Vladimir completed his law degree at the Charles University in Prague and obtained a diploma at the Cardiff University in UK where he studied primarily corporate and business contracts law. Vladimir speaks fluent Czech, Slovak and English.
Mariana is an associate in the banking & finance and M&A team of Wilsons. Mariana joined the firm’s banking & finance team as a concipient in 2015 and remained with Wilsons after passing her bar exam in 2018.
LMA real estate financing takes up the majority of Mariana’s time. She has advised clients on both the lenders’ and borrowers’ sides including major Czech banks, leading real estate funds and other investors as well as developers of both residential and commercial projects.
Mariana has been also regularly involved in M&A transactions on behalf of major Czech clients and she has actively participated in numerous real estate and corporate due diligences.
Prior to the Bar admission, Mariana completed her law degree at the Charles University in Prague and she also studied at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, where she successfully completed courses focused on business law, alternative dispute resolution and international trade and finance.
Robert has been with Wilsons since 2008 and is based in the Bratislava office. He has advised a number of major international real estate developers, equity funds and global corporate investors on large scale investment projects and financings, and complex M&A deals, as well as antitrust and regulatory matters in both Slovakia and other CEE countries. He also has extensive experience in the management of foreign direct investment into the region.
Before joining Wilsons, Robert worked at the Slovak Ministry of Finance, heading a state aid and EU law harmonisation team. Before his affiliation with Wilsons he worked at Linklaters, a leading international law firm, and was head of legal at TriGranit, a CEE real estate investment company.
Robert is a regular speaker at many of the most prestigious real estate conferences in Slovakia.
Peter was made into a partner in Bratislava office in 2016. Peter has been a regular leader of acquisition deals and due diligence teams looking into specific real estate leases, construction issues, license and management agreements.
Peter is popular with clients, due to his proactive approach, and is regarded as someone who is personable and can quickly get to the core of the matter at hand, whilst providing prompt and legally accurate advice.
Before joining Wilsons Peter worked at the Ministry of Construction and Regional Development. Peter speaks fluent Slovak and English.
Juraj is an associate in the real estate department of Wilsons. He has excellent working knowledge of the transaction matters, including both acquisitions and sale of the real estates, as well as practical experience with negotiations of commercial leases.
In the area of corporate law, Juraj has vast experience in advising on day-to-day business operations of clients ranging from multinational companies to SMEs and start-ups. He has acquired significant experience in the employment matters and legal representation in the administrative proceedings.
Juraj completed his studies at the Charles University in Prague and the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. He is fluent in Czech, Slovak and English.
Zuzana is our senior associate in the Real Estate department based in Bratislava. Since joining Wilsons, she has qualified as an attorney focusing on real estate acquisitions/mergers, development projects, joint ventures and retail leasing transactions.
Zuzana has a solid corporate back-ground and regularly coordinates and manages real estate and corporate due diligence procedures. She advises a global retail chain on its acquisition projects in Slovakia and is a key member of several client teams dealing with day-to-day leasing, corporate and financing issues.
